Calum looks at Hermal in surprise. "Thank you brother, I had begun to lose faith in why I chose to follow the path of knighthood. Your words have given me hope that we four can become more then separate beings that travel together. Maybe, we four can become something great." Calum stood up. Let us go to supper and afterwards we can find Guy and put your father's logic to the test? With our help he won't fail again." He stops and looks at Hermel. "What say you to us showing Guy support by not eating dinner tonight?"

Hermal smiles “What a brilliant idea, Calum. We need to support our brother because if one of us fails, we all fail.” Hermal chuckles, “ You may not know this by looking at me but I have never missed a meal in my life” He says with sarcasm “ But for Guy I’m willing to miss one hundred meals to show I have his back.”

Calum brightens clasping a hand to Hermal's broad shoulder "Then brother we are agreed and we have a plan. Let us go to dinner"

Hermal walks alongside Calum on their way to the dining hall. “Will it be just you and I doing this hunger strike? I feel like we would make more of a statement if we got Rhowain to participate as well. We need to show Guy that all of his brothers support him.”

The dining hall of Sir Elad was large, but simple, with the space dominated by a long wooden table lined with seats. The walls were covered with weapons and banners, with a large painted wooden carving of Sir Elad's family's coat of arms, per fess argent and gules in chief a harp sable. A large hearth at the other end of the hall had been lit and the flames crackled and spat sparks up the chimney. Sir Perin was seated at Sir Elad's right hand and greeted the squires as they entered with a friendly wave of his hand, looking each of them in the eye in turn. "Take your seats squires, our lord has news for you about tomorrow" the young knight said, smiling. After the trio had sat, the elder knight took a gulp of his mug of ale and looked at the assembled squires. "You've been in my ward for years, and I've watched you grow into promising young men. Now there is a task I would ask of you. Word has come from Imber that something vile is ravaging the countryside, a man-eating bear in the west acres. I've never heard of such a thing. More likely than not it is a rabid dog" he chuckled with a deep voice at the folly of peasants. Then his face grew stern again "Never the less, even if it is a chipmunk, you must go and take care of whatever it is. The simple villagers are too afraid to go work our lord's fields" the Marshal of Salisbury looked at the squires as did Sir Perin, though he seemed much more light-spirited than the older knight. OOC: Those at the feast do a Stewardship roll to see what you know of Imber. Here's Sir Elad's coat of arms

Hermel chews on on one of his finger nails and spits it to the floor before chiming in "Imber? Where and what is Imber?"

"My lord, what is this place called Imber?" Rhowain said, not sure if he had ever heard of the place.

Sir Elad shook his head at the three squires and let out a huge sigh when Sir Perin shrugged. "Imber is a large but poor village to the north of here, half a days ride. This day is already too late to ride though, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. Any questions?" Hermel stretches back in his chair and plops his feet on the table, " How many people have seen this man eating bear?"

The elder knight gave Hermel an extremely stern look "If you wish to become a knight, Hermel son of Hermel, you better learn your manners. If I ever see your feet on my dinnertable again, I will hack them off and feed them to you!" he said with a voice rising in volume until he was an inch from outright shouting, his voice booming in the dinner hall

The Marshall of Salisbury still looked at the young squire with an irritated look, but eventually harrumphed and replied "There've been no confirmed sightings of the bear. Some peasants have claimed that they know someone who saw it or that they barely survived its attack after it snuck up on them from behind, but nothing that can be verified. Tell me, how does a 450 pound bear sneak up on anyone!?" he took a gulp of his drink. "Likely as not it might be a wolf, a boar, a Saxon raider or a chipmunk with a chip on its shoulder. Nevertheless, the peasants are afraid to work the fields, so I am sending you to take care of this problem."
